Hyderabad, December 7: Former Minister & ex-Leader of Opposition in Telangana Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir has expressed deep condolences over the demise of academician and Madina Education Society founder KM Arifuddin.
Shabbir Ali, in his condolence message, said that KM Arifuddin’s services for the Muslim community, especially in the field of education, were highly appreciable. “KM Arifuddin was a great visionary. He was a pioneer in imparting modern education to poor Muslims of Hyderabad. He turned Madina Public School in an educational hub and started several world class institutions over a period of time,” he said.
He also praised the services rendered by KM Arifuddin in educational empowerment of girls and young women. “Arifuddin will always be remembered for his contribution in educational upliftment of minorities. He has played a major role in motivating young Muslims to appear for the Union Public Service Commission exams and it was due to his contribution that many young boys and girls became IAS, IPS or joined other services,” he said.
Shabbir Ali said that Arifuddin always supported his struggle for Muslim reservation in the then united Andhra Pradesh. “We knew each other since 1988 and when I became a minister in 1989, he was among the first few people who backed my initiatives to get reservation for Muslims in jobs and education. He was a man of great ideas and used to motivate everyone by asking them to adopt a positive approach towards Muslim reservation,” he said.
He said that the services of KM Arifuddin in the field of education would be remembered forever. He said that the demise of Arifuddin was a great loss for Telangana State, Hyderabad and for the Muslim community. “His death is a personal loss for me as I’ve lost a very good friend, who was also a good human being,” he said.
Shabbir Ali also participated in the Namaz-e-Janaza (last prayers) at the Shahi Masjid Public Gardens.
