Hyderabad, June 22: Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir has accused GHMC Commissioner and Special Officer Somesh Kumar of acting like an agent of TRS.
Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan here on Monday, Shabbir Ali said that Somesh Kumar has failed to perform his duties as the Head of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation. Instead of properly maintaining the infrastructure created during Congress regime and ensuring lifting of garbage, Somesh Kumar has been spending most of his time praising Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. He advised Somesh Kumar to resign from his post and officially join the TRS if he was so impressed with the vision of KCR. He said officials, especially the IAS and IPS, should be impartial and be loyal to the rule book than the politicians.
Shabbir Ali said that the Congress party has received tremendous response to the constituency-wise review meeting which it started in view of GHMC elections. He said so far, the review of six constituencies has been completed and all 24 constituencies in GHMC limits would be covered by this month end. He said the youth and women were highly upset with the TRS Government. While the youth are unhappy over the delay in recruitment process, the women feel that they have lost their importance and significance in the TRS Government which gave no representation to woman even in State cabinet. The women are also upset with the rising prices of essential commodities and blame both the BJP and TRS Governments at the Centre and State.
The TPCC Vice-President said that the Congress party would apprise the people that the previous Congress regime had spent over Rs. 1 lakh crore to develop Hyderabad. He said the common people, especially the settlers would be cautioned that KCR was trying to deceive them in different ways. He listed out several statements in which KCR asked Seemandhra people to leave Hyderabad. However, in view of GHMC elections, KCR is trying to get friendly with settlers. He is holding meetings with different organisations and film personalities and making new promises. “Before trusting KCR and his promises, people should do a quick analysis of the status of promises that KCR made in the past. He is a habitual liar and forgets what he said about a particular thing in the recent past,” he said.
Shabbir Ali pointed out that the Congress party has a strong base in Greater Hyderabad. In 2009 GHMC elections, the party had won 52 seats and stood second in 54 other seats. He said this time, the anti-incumbency factor against the TRS-MIM and TDP-BJP combines would ensure the victory of Congress in the next GHMC elections.
